A: A co-operative grant program of the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs Department of The United States of America and The University Film and Video Association.

This touring program brings recent American documentary films, filmmakers, and subject area experts to audiences around the world.

Q: What kind of documentary films does the American Documentary Showcase feature?

A: A selection of award-winning contemporary documentaries covering issues such as education, diversity, immigration, environment, health, democracy, family, popular culture and many other global issues.

The goal of the Showcase is to offer a broad, diversified look at life in the United States and the values of a democratic society as seen by American documentary filmmakers. The Showcase is intended to demonstrate the role documentary plays in fostering understanding and cooperation.

Q: Who participates in the Showcase film programs?

A: These documentary films and their filmmakers and film experts are a vital part of each traveling Showcase delegation. They travel to US Embassies and consulates where their films are shown at festivals, colleges and universities and public screenings.
