University of New Orleans in Kyoto

Expiration Date:
May 1, 2012

Dear Fellow Faculty members,

I would like to ask you to help me spread the word about a great study-abroad opportunity. The University of New Orleans has a great summer program in Kyoto, Japan again this summer (2012). I will be teaching a course titled “Love in the Japanese Film.” My course is part of the offerings on this popular program (UNO-Japan: Study at Doshisha University) that has successfully provided immersive experiences for students in Kyoto since 2009. Other course offerings include classes in Japanese Art, Photography, and language. Students from universities all over the U.S. regularly participate in this program, so I am asking you to help me spread the word. Any student over the age of 18 who meets the University of New Orleans (UNO) admissions criteria may attend. Credits transfer easily, as this is a UNO program that offers UNO credits. Each student enrolls in two courses for 6 credit hours, and federal financial aid applies!

The UNO-Japan program is five-weeks (May 27 – June 30, 2012) in the heart of one of the most beautiful, historical cities in the world. Students attend classes on the Doshisha University campus located in Uptown Kyoto – right next to the Imperial Palace grounds. Classes are designed to provide maximum opportunities for learning in the classroom and beyond. Another important feature of our program is our “Tomodachi Program,” which pairs our students with local Doshisha University students for program activities, providing the “ice breakers” that often lead to forging friendships. Extra-curricular activities like walking tours, cultural activities, and site visits are also included, and optional weekend field trips are offered to provide students with opportunities to optimize their experiences in the Kansai area!

Enrollment in the UNO-Japan: Study at Doshisha University program is limited, and our small classes fill quickly, so students should sign up as soon as possible! Please encourage them to visit the web site at http://inst.uno.edu/Japan, find us on Facebook (“UNO-Japan: Study at Doshisha University”), or send an email to UNOJapan@uno.edu for more information. Or if you want to email me directly to ask more about my courses, please feel free.

Thank you so much,
