Ashland Independent Film Festival Call for Entries

Today in the Spotlight is the 17th Annual Ashland Independent Film Festival(AIFF), named byMovieMaker Magazineas one of the "25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World". AIFF is a must-experience festival across five days that showcases more than 100 unforgettable films to packed audiences, against the backdrop of Oregon's beautiful mountains. With an enduring interest in independent films that enrich and inspire cineastes of all ages, AIFF draws approximately two-thirds of its screening selections from its open call for submissions.

Emerging filmmakers and industry icons alike have called AIFF one of their top experiences on the festival circuit. Awards will be presented in categories including Best Narrative Feature, Best Feature Length Documentary, Best Documentary Editing, and more. "Ashland is a must for all filmmakers! The audiences are the best and the staff is amazing. I have traveled to dozens of film festivals around the world and Ashland is my absolute favorite film festival hands down," states Roger Ross Williams, Academy Award winning filmmaker,Music By PrudenceandGod Loves Uganda.

AIFF's "TalkBack" panels are a crowd-pleaser with filmmakers giving them a unique setting to connect with attendees and learn from potential new collaborators. AIFF2017 TalkBacks brought to the forefront the voices of activist filmmakers and the messages they are championing through film and on the ground activism. The Filming Activists TalkBack included speakers Peter Bratt, Pamela Yates, and Lucas Alvarado-Farrar, and was moderated by Sonya Childress. The Indie Documentary Journalism in the Age of Fake News TalkBack included speakers Kirby Dick, Cullen Hoback, Chelsea Hernandez, and Brian Knappenberger, and was moderated by Carrie Lozano.
