Make Your Mark Call for Entries

In the Spotlight today is the 5th Make Your Mark - A Short Film Competition presented by the Producers Guild of America(PGA). The two-day filmmaking competition will generate great stories, great filmmaking experience, and a lot of fun. Based on submissions, PGA will select filmmaking teams providing them 51 hours to write, shoot and edit a 3-5 minute short. The final entries will be judged by an all-star panel of producers.

The competition is a unique opportunity for producers to showcase their talents. Producers, regardless of experience, are invited to participate in this exciting competition to produce a short film during the weekend of August 25- 27, 2017. The competition is open to all producers 18 years of age or older from anywhere in the world. Entrants need not be a member of the PGA to enter.

Previous judges have included Chris Moore (Manchester By The Sea,Good Will Hunting), Bruce Cohen (Milk,American Beauty), Gale Anne Hurd (Terminator,The Abyss), Stacey Sher (Pulp Fiction,Erin Brockovich), and Cathleen Summers (Sleepless In Seatle,9½ Weeks). This year's top ten short films will also be screened at a special Awards Program held Saturday, November 11, 2017 in association with New FilmMakers LA at the South Park Center in downtown Los Angeles, where the top three prizes will be presented along with the seven honorable mention awards.

The mission of the competition is to support talented emerging producers by using the inspirational spirit of the industry's top Producers to spark the imagination of new generations of storytellers.

This year the PGA-Make Your Mark Weekend Shorts Competition honors the film legacy of iconic producer Mike Nichols (Closer, Postcards from the Edge). Themes and elements of Mr. Nichol's work will be guiding factors in the stories filmmakers are invited to tell.
