New York Film Festival Call for Entries

In the Spotlight today is the 55th New York Film Festival(NYFF), an annual, world-renowned 18-day event, produced by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, which introduces audiences to the greatest in world cinema, featuring top films from celebrated filmmakers as well as fresh new talent.

NYFF features over 25 titles in the Main Slate and multiple sections showcasing thrilling works, including Projections (avant-garde), Convergence (virtual reality and multi-platform immersive storytelling), Retrospectives, Spotlight on Documentary, Shorts, and Revivals. The five-person selection committee is chaired by New York Film Festival Director Kent Jones and includes esteemed critics, curators, and programmers.The New Yorker'sRichard Brody shares, "NYFF has always been a place to discover much of the year's best in world cinema."

NYFF celebrates New York, U.S., and North American premieres, as well as many world premieres, which most recently included Ang Lee'sBilly Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, shown in a groundbreaking format of 120 frames-per-second 4K 3D; Ava DuVernay's13th; James Gray'sThe Lost City of Z; Steven Spielberg'sBridge of Spies; and Robert Zemeckis'sThe Walkin 3D. Additional highlights from last year include Mike Mills's20th Century Women, Pablo Larraín'sJackie, and Cannes selections making their U.S. premieres, includingAquarius,Elle,Toni Erdmann,Graduation,Julieta,Neruda,Paterson,Personal Shopper, and more.

Throughout the year, the Film Society of Lincoln Center continues to support selections from the New York Film Festival with theatrical runs. Previous releases have included Arnaud Desplechin'sMy Golden Days, Apichatpong Weerasethakul'sCemetery of Splendor, Miguel Gomes'sArabian Nights, Philippe Garrel'sIn the Shadow of Women, Hou Hsiao-hsien'sThe Assassin, and Hong Sangsoo'sRight Now, Wrong Then.
