DTLA FILM FESTIVAL
Los Angeles, California - USA
September 21 to 30, 2017

In the Spotlight today is the 9th Annual DTLA Film Festival , taking center stage in Los Angeles' revitalized and flourishing Downtown district (DTLA). Over the last decade DTLA has emerged as the new creative nexus of the Entertainment Capital of the World and an international travel destination, and DTLA Film Festival has grown with it. Established by filmmakers for filmmakers, the festival provides a showcase for a discerning audience comprised of Los Angeles creatives - professionals in the film, TV, music, video game, digital content, fashion and marketing industries, including distributors, producers, agents, talent managers, writers, directors, editors producers and actors.

This year the festival expands to 10 days with more than 100 film screenings, as well as special event showcases located through the various neighborhoods of DTLA. The festival will be held one again at L.A. LIVE in the heart of DTLA, and the home of the world-famous Staples Center sports arena, The Grammy Museum of Music, 25 restaurants and lounges, and the Regal Cinemas 14. Numerous industry networking parties and receptions are open to all participating filmmakers. Last year virtually all of the feature films showcased during the festival secured a distribution deal.

The festival proudly reflects the unique cultural and ethnic diversity of DTLA and its surrounding communities. Known for taking creative risks with its programming, the festival this year will present special programming series on Urban Sustainability, Architecture & Design, Fashion & Film, Music Documentaries and panels-seminars on film finance, distribution and drone camera cinematography. Foreign films from mostly Muslim nations will also be screened as part of a series. In addition, the festival is set to showcase three nontraditional "moving images" series this year, The Fifth Wall, devoted to new media and interactive programming; Killer Serials, devoted to new cinematic television; and DTLA WebFest, a festival-within-a-festival presenting the best in Internet scripted content.
