In the Spotlight today is the 20th Annual Sonoma International Film Festival (SIFF), celebrating a milestone year as a world class five day film festival that showcases the very best in film, food and wine. SIFF unfolds in Northern California's famed wine country and offers a flavorful palette of films that routinely attracts cineastes from all over the world. Each year the festival features more than 100 films and presents juried and cash awards up to $1,000 USD in a range of competitive categories -- including Best Feature Film, Best Documentary, Best World Cinema, and Best Short Film.

SIFF year after year attracts a robust list of studio executives, film distributors, accomplished writers and directors along with publishers of national trades and magazines are all accessible to attending filmmakers. Furthermore, the Festival is proud to host a film market to help filmmakers garner distribution in 2017. Select filmmakers will enjoy complimentary transportation and accommodations, an intimate and friendly atmosphere conducive to networking with some of the most gifted artists of today, and eye-opening industry panels.

Past honorees at SIFF have included many of filmmaking's best and brightest talents, including Academy Award-nominee Demian Bichir, Emmy-nominee Danny Glover, and Academy Award-winners Susan Sarandon, Alexander Payne and John Lasseter.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVE
The Sonoma International Film Festival (SIFF) is presented by the Sonoma Film Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, as a welcoming, entertaining and inspiring cinematic experience that supports and promotes independent films, celebrates the cultural diversity in the Sonoma Valley through film, and funds visual arts in education.

MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The 2017 Film Festival will feature the finest films from all countries and will showcase Spanish language films. SIFF continues to grow its reputation by screening powerful films that focus on social causes, LGBT issues, design and the environment. Many films have gone from early screenings at SIFF to significant success and distribution.
