Sedona, Arizona - USA
February 18 to 26, 2017

In the Spotlight today is the 23rd Annual Sedona International Film Festival (SIFF), a filmmaker's sanctuary with top-notch hospitality all taking place in the heart of Sedona, rated by USA Today as, "one of the most beautiful places in the world!" All genres are welcome and encouraged at SIFF, and the festival even features multiple themed tracks throughout its nine incredible days of programming.

In addition to a line-up of extraordinary films (including some of best foreign films to be found anywhere), SIFF features an annual celebrity tribute at a gala event uniquely designed to honor an admirable and inspiring cinematic career. Previous SIFF honorees have included legendary talents Richard Dreyfuss, Susan Sarandon, Michael Moore, Nicolas Cage, Nick Nolte, Peter Bogdanovich, Doris Roberts, Gary Sinise, Paul Sorvino, Rip Torn, and countless other luminaries from in front of and behind the camera.

The real stars of SIFF, however, are the visiting independent filmmakers eager to display their remarkable works of art. SIFF grants at least two screenings of every film, as well as Q&As after every screening (provided the filmmaker is in attendance) and the technical expertise to ensure each film looks and sounds its best. At SIFF, every visiting filmmaker is treated like royalty and enjoys complimentary hotel accommodations and food, all day, every day.

SIFF brings people together to broaden the understanding of the human condition and celebrate the power of independent film through cinema and the Sedona experience. SIFF educates and inspires filmmakers and audience members to make a difference around the world through film.

SIFF proudly awards Director's Choice Awards and Audience Choice Awards in each of the festival's competitive categories. The festival also doles out specialty awards for direction, ensemble cast, screenwriting, and more. Each year, cash awards and scholarships are granted to some of the festival's most promising filmmakers. Animator John Canemaker took his SIFF award-winning film, The Moon and the Sun: An Imagined Conversation, all the way to the Academy Awards and nabbed a Best Animated Short Oscar on the big night.
