Film/Video is a program of study in the Art + Art History Department with three distinguished full time faculty, a number of part time faculty and part time equipment room staff. There are over one hundred forty BFA students and five MFA students in the area. It is a very “hands on” program with BFA students beginning to make work in their first semester. There are a number of computer labs, film and digital camera and lighting systems, and shooting studio(s) available. In addition, our students benefit from the area being in an Art Department, where many other Studio and Art History classes have a positive and reinforcing influence on their work. Film students are strongly encouraged, and do, enter many festivals, winning prestigious awards, including the Student Academy Awards.
Applicants should enjoy one to one contact with students and understand the importance of individually mentoring them in their development. That has always been the key to our student’s noteworthy successes.
