Summary: The Film and Digital Video Production program area for Design, Digital Arts & Film in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies is currently seeking a film scholar and/or industry professional to serve as instructor for a course in narrative structure and the cinematic conventions which have evolved around them.
Job Details: The instructor should be able to cite specific examples which illustrate how various directors have utilized these visual methods of storytelling as they evolved to reinforce or subvert audience expectations. Candidates should be able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of film history and theory as well as specific genres and their conventions.
Potential candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree. Candidates should be able to demonstrate at least 2-4 years of professional experience as a writer, director or cinematographer or possess a masters degree and commensurate teaching experience, especially at the college level. The ideal candidate will be able to offer both production experience and theoretical training to be able to address both aspects of the works screened in class. We are looking for experienced, innovative individuals who can demonstrate their abilities through their accomplishments to date, and are motivated to share their knowledge with aspiring filmmakers.
